Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, delivery of pediatric anesthesia and related services to the patients of the KASCH, Jeddah appropriate to their expertise, work experience, language and computer skills under the responsibility of the Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Anesthesia.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: The American Board of Pediatric Anesthesia (AMP)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC – Pediatric Anesthesia)
      • UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST Specialist Register -Pediatric Anesthesia
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP – Pediatric Anesthesia)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License:

  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
  • Current BLS/ACLS Certificate

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality anesthesia care to the patient clientele
  • Provide consultation services to patients as requested
  • Supervise anesthetists of lower grades, with particular reference to assistant consultants
  • Teach and supervise residents and fellows
  • Participate in departmental and hospital teaching activities
  • Participate in and initiate research activities
  • Participate in committees and other administrative functions as needed
  • Maintain a list of privileges, and work within the confines of that perimeter
  • Understand and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures pertaining to medical practice
  • Participate in the quality improvement and reviews conducted by the Department of Pediatric Anesthesia
  • Perform other related duties as appropriate and as assigned
  • Undertake continuing medical education activities
