skills assessment and development for nursing personnel, nursing students, interns and residents within a clinical specialty.

Education / Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • OR Associate Degree/Diploma or country equivalent + Bachelor’s in Nursing related field

Experience:

  • Experience from North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience post-qualification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in hemodialysis or a related specialty.

License:

Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete assigned responsibilities within established hospital, divisional, and unit-specific guidelines, policies, procedures, standards, and protocols related to hemodialysis care.
  • Maintain a strong clinical presence, dedicating at least 90% of time to providing direct support and oversight in the hemodialysis unit.
  • Actively participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of orientation programs and skills competency assessments for staff in the hemodialysis unit.
  • Evaluate and instruct staff and students on the performance of patient care specific to hemodialysis and ensure accurate clinical documentation.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating skill development programs in coordination with the Nurse Manager, Nursing Education Department, and university faculty.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with patients, families, healthcare team members, and other departments to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and students, addressing patient care concerns and providing guidance on hemodialysis-related knowledge and skills.
  • Refer staff and student performance concerns to the Nurse Manager and assist in addressing development needs.
  • Maintain all records related to the operation of the hemodialysis unit and generate required reports promptly.
  • Assess the learning needs of staff and students and develop tailored learning plans in conjunction with the Nurse Manager and Nursing Education team.
  • Document developmental needs and action plans for staff and students, ensuring clear follow-up and evaluation.
  • Participate in teaching and mentoring nursing, medical, and paramedical students, interns, and residents, fostering their professional growth.
  • Lead and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and processes to enhance patient care outcomes in the hemodialysis unit.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to identify areas for improvement and implement evidence-based practices in the hemodialysis unit.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital infection control and safety protocols, maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Serve as a professional role model, teacher, and resource, demonstrating respect, compassion, and cultural sensitivity to patients, families, staff, and colleagues.
  • Advocate for excellence in hemodialysis patient care, ensuring patients’ rights and needs are met.
  • Participate actively in unit, nursing, and hospital committees and work groups, contributing to the overall improvement of services.
  • Take initiative in identifying and addressing operational and clinical challenges in the hemodialysis unit.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the operational and clinical goals of the hemodialysis department.
