Summary

Facilitates the provision of exceptional patient driven care and staff empowerment in a wellness environment aligned with the organization’s leadership standards of practice, namely integrity, leadership development, performance, professional and ethical behavior, communication, collaboration, and professional commitment. Ensures that high quality and up to date processes and procedures are in place and implemented towards nursing accreditation and quality initiatives. Utilizes a transformational leadership style to manage nursing accreditation/quality staff, resources, and activities.

Education / Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing with Master’s related Field OR
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing

Experience:

  • Minimum Eight (8) years of nursing experience
  • Including 4 years in quality / accreditation

License:

Valid and in a good Standing License in current country or practice

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical

  • Performs routine quality rounds and advices/works with nurse leaders and educators to correct/improve deficits including risk prevention and management.
  • Strategize to improve/ensure workflow and care delivery issues.
  • Addresses and discusses issues and solutions with departments and superiors.
  • Is involved in and advices upon unit based quality/performance improvement and in relation to developing and utilizing key performance indicators.
  • Is involved in investigation into nursing processes related quality incidents and near misses.
  • Advocates for and actively promotes speak up for patient safety and just culture initiatives.

Leadership

  • Collaborates with KAAUH Quality Department to develop policies and procedures, collaborates with nursing leaders to ensure dissemination and implementation across nursing.
  • Plans and develops the annual Nursing Quality plan/program in accordance with organizational and nursing’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Leads evaluation of adherence to policies, quality and patient safety initiatives.
  • Leads the development, implementation and measurement of Nursing Affairs Key Performance Indicators.
  • Is responsible for Nursing’s’ NDNQI database, its reports and dissemination.
  • Ensures that Nursing Affairs utilizes the appropriate quality and performance improvement tools by advising Nursing Executives.
  • Reports quality program activities.
  • Leads the process for clinical care guideline development, approval and dissemination.
  • Advocates for and advices on practices to conserve resources at the same time ensuring quality outcomes.
  • Is responsible for advising Nursing Affairs Leadership on current quality issues.
  • Ensure confidentiality, legibility and accuracy of documentation.
  • Promotes quality and advices/assist units with quality initiatives.
  • Supervises the Accreditation/Quality nursing team and manages its resources.
  • Expertly operates the Safe Care system and provide assistance and support to business owners.
  • Advices Nursing Affairs on current safety and risk management standards, policies, procedures and processes.
  • Uses data from Safe Care events to identify areas for improvement.
  • Is responsible for identification of health and safety risks in units and collaboration with relevant departments to present solutions.
  • Leads Nursing Affairs in all accreditation processes.
  • Is responsible for communication and networking with national and international accreditation organizations to achieve organizational and nursing goals and objective.
  • Utilize quality improvement techniques and tools, leads in the development and implementation of detailed action plans to achieve compliance, on a system-wide basis
  • Maintains a high-level of interpersonal and communication skills with members of the multidisciplinary team, patients’ and visitors of the service.
  • Functions as a mentor and as a coach, formally and informally.

Education

  • Creates or provides training materials and operating manuals with relevant and up to date information for applicable accreditation bodies.
  • Ensures education and guidance on implementation on existing, new and updated policies to Nursing Affairs.
  • Leads with the interpretation and implementation of quality improvement standards within Nursing Affairs.
  • Ensures education of the Safe Care system is provided.
  • Demonstrates up to date knowledge in all aspects of nursing practice, hospital management, quality, accreditation process, sound understanding of occupational health and safety, risk management and confidentiality and KAAUH policies and procedures.
  • Ensures new employees to quality and accreditation are orientated to section and role.
  • Is involved in General Nursing Orientation in relation to quality and accreditation.
  • Participate in education of nurses in the mentorship program and relevant education programs.

Research

  • Is responsible for ensuing nursing quality knowledge and practice is up to date and that tools utilized are evidence based.
  • Leads research initiatives within accreditation and quality section.
  • Mentors and coaches’ junior staff on research and evidence based practice.
  • Ensures quality of data collected by nursing.
  • Leads projects and initiatives aimed at improvement.
  • Leads journal Club activities.

Hospital-wide

  • Respects patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.
  • Participates and supports quality improvement and patient safety activities as an individual or as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
