Anesthesiology Consultant

Summary
Responsible to give a patient medication so they do not feel pain when they are undergoing surgery, also involved in a range of other medical procedures, including carrying out assessments in critical care units, dealing with emergency situations, and giving advice about pain management.
Education / Qualification Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality anesthesia care to the patient clientele.
- Provide consultation services to patients as requested.
- Supervise anesthetists of lower grades, with particular reference to staff physicians.
- Teach and supervise residents in the Anesthesia Residency Program.
- Participate in departmental and hospital teaching activities.
- Participate in and initiate research activities.
- Participate in committees and other administrative functions as needed.
- Maintain a list of privileges, and work within the confines of that perimeter.
- Understand and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures pertaining to medical practice.
- Participate in the quality improvement and reviews conducted by the Department of Anesthesia.
- Perform other related duties as appropriate and as assigned.
- Undertake continuing medical education activities.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
