Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, actively participate in applying evidence-based practice and other specialized services of Pharmaceutical Care to optimize patient outcomes. Actively participate in providing drug information services to ensure safe and cost-effective drug therapy.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school AND one of the following:
    • M.Sc in Clinical Pharmacy
    • Post-bachelor PharmD
    • Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacy

Experience Post Post-Qualifications:

  • Experience from North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand is required.
  • For candidates with no residency training Minimum Six (6) years of experience 
  • For candidates with General Residency Training (PGY1): Minimum Three (3) years of experience 
  • For candidate with completed General Residency Training (PGY1) and Specialized Residency Training (PGY2): No previous experience in clinical pharmacy is required
  • Experience at Children’s hospital is a plus

License:

  • Current license as a Registered Pharmacist

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial assessment upon admission and evaluating patient’s pharmacological and non-pharmacological management with documentation of findings and recommendations.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary patient care rounds, conduct patient profile/chart review for optimizing pharmacotherapeutic outcomes.
  • Assess and evaluate patient’s pharmacological and non-pharmacological needs.
  • Participate in clinical pharmacy consultation services in a timely manner that include but not limited to TPN, patient falls.
  • Provide written communications of the pharmacotherapeutic interventions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Apply the principles of Pharmaceutical Care to provide optimum medication-related patient outcomes.
  • Perform medication order verification for admitted patients as assigned.
  • Perform drug use evaluation as assigned by the department.
  • Participate in the hospital antimicrobial stewardship program.
  • Provide and participate in therapeutic drug monitoring services.
  • Conduct clinical evaluation of new drugs for possible addition to the hospital formulary.
  • Manage non-formulary drug request.
  • Provide medication reconciliation services.
  • Develop/implement clinical pathways and clinical practice institutional protocols/guidelines.
  • Provide continuing education lectures.
  • Provide patient counseling for medication use.
  • Actively participates in assigned pharmacy-run ambulatory care clinic(s).
  • Report encountered adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
  • Participate in investigating suspected or verified adverse drug effects and medication errors with submitting findings and conclusions for review.
  • Conduct and participate in clinical researches and/or clinical pharmacy quality project as assigned by the department.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare providers in community services and awareness campaigns to promote health, prevent disease, and assure drug therapy regimens are safe and effective.
  • Participate in organizational committee(s) as assigned by the department.
  • Provide training, teaching and mentorship to new staff, pharmacy residents and pharmacy interns.
  • Submit monthly report of performed clinical activities .
  • Comply with all security measures and quality standards. Ensure safe and effective pharmaceutical service for assigned area of operations. Practice within the scope of hospital policy, accepted standards, and Saudi Arabia
