
Gastroenterology Hepatobiliary Consultant
Summary
Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian National Guard – Health Affairs. Has specific knowledge of the Hepatology Division. Is a member of the Medical Staff and is eligible to diagnose, treat and when privileged, admit patients. Is a physician who is capable of independently providing high quality patient care in a tertiary, secondary or primary care setting. Governed by the Code of Ethics as adopted by NGHA.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians Certificate (FRCPS-C)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- The total experience training and post-training should be equal to, or more than, seven (7) years
- Should have a minimum of two (2) years experience in the sub-specialty abroad in a program acceptable to NGHA
- Superior, or above average performance in areas of patient care and teaching/training activities
- Productivity in medical research merits strong consideration
- Successful completion of a structured accredited sub-specialty training program acceptable to NGHA
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Privileged to admit patients and take the responsibility as the main responsible physician (MRP) to admit patient of the specialty and runs outpatient clinics and consultations.
- Privileged if adequately trained to perform diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy as per the Governing Body approved procedures
- Ensures the adequate and complete timely documentation of patient’s medical records
- Ensures a high quality professional standard of care, consistent with the resources available, is rendered to all patients.
- Ensures that professional and ethical practice standards are maintained
- Establishes, sustains and continues improvement in educational and professional standards
- Supports undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
- Supports and participates in research in all its forms
- Promotes evidence-based manning
- Encourages efficient utilization of available resources
- Contributes to the strategic planning for community needs, resource allocation and quality improvement activities of HGHA
- Promotes effective and efficient communication between the medical staff and other healthcare professionals
- Provides continuous education of patients and their families
- Promotes preventive medicine and community wellness activities
- Discharges the functions of the medical staff, departments and committees for which he/she is responsible
- Ensures compliance with the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations adopted by the Medical Staff, Hospital and Organizational Policy and Procedures, and the Laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Performs other job related duties as assigned
