Pediatric Plastic Surgery Consultant
Summary
Responsible on the reconstructive and aesthetic improvement of a child’s appearance, with the goal of restoring functionality and improving quality of life for those with anomalies, whether they be congenital or acquired from an illness or traumatic event.
Education / Qualification Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Pediatric Plastic Surgery (ABP)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC – Pediatric Plastic Surgery )
- UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST – Pediatric Plastic Surgery
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP – Pediatric Plastic Surgery )
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
- Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
- Current BLS/ACLS Certification
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- As Most Responsible Physician ( MRP) of patients admitted under his/her name, ensure optimal care of those patients
- Undertake outpatient, inpatient and operating duties with punctuality and in professional manner
- Cooperate with other consultants . Section Heads and Chairman in Day- to- day department affairs including morbidity/ mortality and quality improvement activities
- Ensure that all middle grade and junior staff in the team carry out their duties appropriately. Teaches and guides them in all aspects of surgical care.
- Responsible for timely completion of medical records and also the quality of the records
- Undertake duties as assigned by section head and chairman
- Partakes in committee duties as requested or nominated, representing section head when requested
- Organizes academic and teaching activities as necessary
- Responsible for Associate and Assistant Consultants, Staff Surgeons Residents and interns on the team.
- Liaises with other consultants and senior staff as indicated
