
Maternal Fetal Medicine Consultant
Summary
Responsible on the diagnosis and treatment of expectant mothers and their unborn babies.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures quality and appropriateness of patient care and safety.
- Provides ambulatory consults and genetic counseling for high-risk obstetric patients.
- Supervises with other senior staff the routine and high-risk ultrasound results.
- Performs tertiary level ultrasound scans.
- Performs diagnostic invasive procedures related to Fetal Medicine: chorionic villous sampling, amniocentesis, and cardiocentesis.
- Performs therapeutic procedures related to Fetal Medicine e.g., intrauterine blood transfusion, reduction amniocentesis, aspiration of fetal urine, pleural effusion, ascites etc.
- Performs ambulatory, ultrasound guided gynaecological procedures.
- Takes part with other members of the Department in the development of research relevant for improvement of patients’ care.
- Participates in training of doctors and technicians in all aspects of Ob/Gyn ultrasound.
- Participates in implementation and maintenance of training programmes and continuing educational programmes for Saudi National.
- Attends division meetings and departmental meetings and if required, chairs the weekly perinatal planning meetings.
- Participate actively in departmental, divisional committees as appointed by the Chairman.
- Performs administrative tasks as assigned by the Chairman of Ob/Gyn and/or Chief of Perinatology.
