Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, in close collaboration with medical and other healthcare team members demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge and applies this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, delivery and design of nursing care and interventions in the Medical Unit.

Education / Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • OR Associate Degree/Diploma or country equivalent + Bachelor’s in Nursing related field

Experience:

  • Experience from North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience post-qualification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in ICU or a related specialty.

License:

Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate advanced nursing knowledge and clinical competence in the management and care of critically ill patients in the ICU.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide specialized and complex ICU nursing care, including nurse-led initiatives, within the scope of the RN license.
  • Serve as an expert resource for evidence-based nursing practices specific to ICU care, guiding and supporting the nursing team in the management of critically ill patients.
  • Mentor and educate nursing staff, providing guidance on ICU protocols, procedures, and best practices to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Lead the development and implementation of ICU-specific educational programs and workshops, enhancing the clinical skills of nursing staff.
  • Advocate for patients in the ICU, ensuring their rights and needs are met, and providing compassionate care to both patients and families.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with department guidelines, including complex clinical assessments and interventions.
  • Lead clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives within the ICU, focusing on patient outcomes, safety, and the reduction of complications in critically ill patients.
  • Serve as a liaison between the ICU team and other hospital departments, ensuring effective communication and coordinated care for critically ill patients.
  • Actively participate in the development, review, and implementation of ICU policies, procedures, and clinical practice guidelines, integrating the latest evidence-based practices.
  • Conduct research or participate in clinical research activities aimed at improving ICU patient outcomes and advancing nursing practice.
  • Take leadership in complex clinical decision-making for ICU patients, providing guidance and support to nursing staff in the management of critically ill or unstable patients.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership and critical thinking skills when overseeing the care of multiple ICU patients or handling high-acuity situations.
  • Engage in mentorship activities, providing guidance and clinical support to staff nurses, fostering a culture of continuous learning within the ICU.
  • Collaborate in infection control initiatives and ensure adherence to safety protocols in the ICU to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with physicians, other healthcare professionals, and external specialists to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Take responsibility for personal actions, decisions, and behaviors, demonstrating initiative and leadership within the ICU with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success and improvement of the ICU department.
