Pediatric Development & Behavior Consultant
Summary
Within the mission, vision, and values of Saudi Arabian National Guard Health Affairs (NGHA), a member of the medical staff who is qualified in Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics and can function as an independent Consultant Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrician and a primary caregiver and is responsible for the overall cost effective management and coordination of care of the patient.
Education / Qualification Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Behavior Pediatrics (ABP)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC – Behavior Pediatrics)
- UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST Specialist Register – Behavior Pediatrics
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP – Behavior Pediatrics )
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
- Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
- Current BLS/ACLS Certificate
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To provide high standard and quality patient care in accordance with the NGHA mission, vision, and values in the Department of Pediatrics.
2. To provide inpatient care for patients admitted to the hospital under the Division of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics either as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) or as the covering physician during rest hours, weekends, holidays, or vacations of the patient’s MRP, and to be responsible when on-call, accepting the inconveniences associated with the patient’s needs. The precise responsibilities of the MRP are available in the Department’s Policies and Procedures.
3. To provide care to the Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics patients in the ambulatory care facility. The duration and frequency of this service is dictated by the needs and the regulations of the organization, the Department of Pediatrics, and the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics service.
4. To determine the final disposition and plan of care of his/her patients, in addition to coordinating the referral to other services if needed.
5. To provide consultation services within the Department and other departments within the organization.
6. To demonstrate administrative and organizational skills in various developmental clinical settings, particularly multidisciplinary settings, with the ability to effectively coordinate the work of the health care team.
7. To perfonn diagnostic and/or therapeutic interventions and procedures for which he/she has been granted specific privileges based on his/her training, qualifications, experience, and skills.
8. To demonstrate a working knowledge of the range of community based resources for children and families with special needs.
9. To participate in on-call coverage in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Department of Pediatrics.
10. To actively participate in the quality improvement program of the Department of Pediatrics.
11. To provide close supervision of the clinical performance of subordinates and to act as a role model.
12. To serve in departmental and organizational committees as appointed by the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics or the Executive Management of the organization.
13. To participate in scientific research and contribute to the department’s educational activities and postgraduate training programs as per the Department’s Policies and Procedures.
14. To regularly participate in educational activities in order to acquire new skills and knowledge and to support career advancements.
15. To advocate for the health needs and well being of children and their families.
16. To adhere to aII the rules and regulations of the Department of Pediatrics and the organization. Consultants are expected to familiarize themselves and comply with both the APPs and DPPs.
17. To comply with all professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff ByLaws of the organization.
18. To perform other relevant duties and charges as directed by the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics.
