We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic and passionate candidate whom will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process and meeting the established standard of nursing practice and performance.

Summary

Magnet® Program Director (MPD) is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet® application, designation and re-designation processes. The MPD serves as the Magnet®advisor to the Nursing Executive Committee, nursing leadership and department committee structure. The MPD develops and implements organizational strategies and infrastructure to support clinical quality, operational effectiveness and shared governance as essential components of the Magnet®® Recognition Program. Works collaboratively with nurse administrators and members of nursing leadership and other organizational committee and departments. The MPD develops and maintains effective relationships with a variety of individuals throughout the institution as job duties indicate.

Education / Qualification Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
  • MSc in nursing /Healthcare or management or administration field

Experience Post Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Twelve (12)years clinical experience post qualification in a similar healthcare settings
  • Minimum Two (2) years Current experience in leading Magnet® program

License:

  • Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate broad expertise in the delivery of nursing professional practice, including models for care delivery and professional practice.
  • Organizational-wide efforts around developing, implementing and enhancing conceptual models that drive professional nursing practice at SSMC.
  • Interprets the impact of organizational change and develops change strategies for successful implementation.
  • Incorporates SSMC’s mission vision, and values in goals and strategies within Magnet® accreditation program
  • Develop objectives and manage operational initiatives with measurable outcomes in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Actively seeks opportunities to improve financial outcomes, engaging staff in the process.
  • Leads and assumes organizational responsibility for all aspects of the ANCC Magnet® application, designation and re-designation processes.
  • Develops plan to ensure compliance and maintenance with Magnet® requirements and annual reports.
  • Functions as primary liaison with Magnet® Office.
  • Mentors leadership team members to ensure the development of enhanced knowledge related to Magnet®.
  • Identifies, develops and maintains comprehensive data management systems that support information submission to the Magnet® office and enable accurate tracking of key performance indicators.
  • Oversees collection of key nursing-sensitive indicators and outcomes and develops all reports and demographics for submission to the ANCC Magnet® Office.
  • Coordinates and leads the development of Magnet® re-design documents and annual reports.
  • Coordinates and facilitates Magnet® Councils and acts as a resource and advisor for the shared governance councils.
  • Coordinates readiness activities for Magnet® site visit.
  • Provides guidance, support, and an overall plan for the Magnet® site visit.
  • Engages administration, physicians, staff, and all inter-professional partners in Magnet® site visit activities and preparedness.
  • Coordinates and supports other activities related to professional nursing practice and care innovation as assigned by Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Partners with all nurse leaders to ensure focus on exemplary professional practice, quality, safety, and patient care outcomes.
  • Provides administrative direction to strengthen and sustain the shared governance structure.
  • Fosters shared decision-making in nursing by implementing strategies and infrastructure to guide, and support the nursing department towards a successful and sustainable Nursing Shared Governance Model and Professional Practice Model.
  • Designs processes and programs in collaboration with CNO and nurse leaders to support professional development for all nurses.
  • Participates in research activities as appropriate and uses research findings in the development of policies, and guidelines; and shares research activities with others.
  • Incorporates the use of evidence-based practice into program development and improvement activities and maintains statistical information and reports.
  • Uses information technology to access, transmit and produce information as necessary.
  • Facilitates meetings related to Nursing Excellence.
  • Enhance workplace culture that supports staff recognition.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer

Accountabilities

  • Prepares and delivers reports to operational leadership outlining progress toward meeting annual goals and objectives, including performance related to finance, clinical practice, quality, safety, marketing, and human resources.
  • Develops Magnet® dashboards and shares them with CNO and Nursing Leadership Team on a monthly basis.
  • Seeks experiences to advance one’s professional skills and knowledge.
  • Remains up-to-date on best practices and incorporates them into Magnet® and Nursing Excellence practices and programs.
  • Oversees and works with teams for audit recommendations and is accountable for audit results and improvements
  • Facilitates reporting of incidents occurring within the organization by proper coordination and facilitating corrective action taken.
  • Evaluates one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Create awareness of regulatory requirements and monitor compliance.
  • Reports incidents as appropriate that affect patient and staff safety.
